Stump Grinding & Stump Removal in Crawley

An old stump gets in the way of mowing, sprouts suckers all over the lawn, and can play host to honey fungus that spreads to healthy plants. Grinding is the fast, clean solution: a purpose-built machine chews the stump into chip to below ground level, leaving soil you can replant, returf, pave or build over.

What's involved

We grind stumps to around 200–300mm below ground as standard. Deeper on request for foundations or new planting. The grindings (a mix of chip and soil) are left neatly backfilled in the hole, or removed and the hole topped with soil for an extra charge. Our narrow-access machine fits through a standard 76cm garden gate, so back gardens are rarely a problem.

Before grinding we check for services. Water pipes, drainage runs, cable and lighting, and work around them. If you're planning a patio, extension or new lawn, tell us: it changes how deep we grind.

Price depends on stump diameter and access. As a guide: small stumps (up to 30cm across) from around £80–£150; medium stumps £150–£250; large stumps or multiples quoted individually. Grinding several in one visit brings the per-stump price down substantially.
